It was a big one..
Some big takeaways from this weekend including a surprise new Xbox console! I’ll cover them all here, including links to trailers for all of our highlights.
Sony Showcase Highlights
Silent Hill F
Release Date: September 25th 2025
A trailer featuring a bit of gameplay and terrifying creatures—possibly a manifestation of the protagonist’s jealous friend? Looks like classic Silent Hill gameplay, see for yourself;
Digimon Story Time Stranger
Release Date: October 3rd 2025
October is getting stacked, I can’t wait for this game. They’re not everyones cup of tea but I love the Digimon Story games. It looks like this one will have us exploring the digital world instead of the extremely generic servers of the previous games. Very excited for this, the turn based gameplay is still there. We also have a price-point and it’s in that sweet spot at £55. Could be a day one for me as I know I will get plenty of hours of fun and value out of it.
Sword of the Sea
Release Date: August 19th 2025
Text herComing straight onto the playstation subscription is Sword of the Sea which from the sand in the trailer you immediately knew it was from the creators of Journey. Sword of the sea looks like a cool mix of Journey and also tony hawks pro skater. Where you hoverboard over sand dunes doing plenty of tricks along the way. I’m sure theirs more to it than that but I’m already sold.
Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater
Release Date: August 28th 2025
We saw more gameplay footage of the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Monkey mode is coming back, some new gadgets for Snake to use were advertised. The trailer looks so good that my brother has vowed to play the original games and I am very excited for him.
Pragmata
Release Date: 2026
Resi in spaaaaace, okay I might be generalising a bit there.
Pragmata is real and it’s coming next year. It does look similar to the new resident evil games in a gameplay sense but with robots instead of zombies. But it’s set in what appears to be a space station on the moon (or a moon) you also have a cyber-hacker child accompanying you? Capcom has been on a hell of a roll lately and they’re not done yet. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more gameplay on this one as I have high hopes for it
Nioh 3
Release Date: 2026
The latest Nioh Game looks stunning and now has an open world instead of linear stages. The Soulsborne genre is still going strong and it will be interesting to see where this stacks up against the other ever improving souls clones. It also has a demo which is available now (First impressions/demo review pending)
Romeo is deadman
Release Date: 2026
A very trippy trailer that turned from a Rick and Morty esque cartoon into something that looked a bit like a trippy version of Deadrising. Which made sense the second I saw this was a Suda51 game. This looks like it has a lot of potential and we will be keeping an eye out for more gameplay
Tides of Tomorrow
Release Date: 2026
This game has a very interesting premise where you follow a previous player who could be your friend or a streamer you like etc. Whatever actions they have done will leave clues for you to follow. I would really like to see exactly how it plays out in terms of live gameplay
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls
Release Date: 2026
This was a nice surprise. A Marvel fighting game created by Arc systems (the people who make the Guilty Gear fighting games). It does seem like a match made in heaven. You can see and hear the Guilty Gear influences on this immediately with Ironmans mecha style visor and the booming japanese voice actors. Promising 4v4 battles and showing us 8 characters so far this should be a tonne of fun.
Charactrs revealed are: Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Ms Marvel?, Storm, Starlord, Ghost Rider and Dr Doom.
007 First Light
Release Date: 2026
The bond game is also real, I was worrying this was vapourware. A bond Origin story from the creators of Hitman. The trailer looks promising, you can see the Hitman influences on the gameplay immediately. It all seems a lot more curated and story driven. (be that for better or worse)
Summer Games fest announcements
Then came the Summer games fest show hosted by good old Geoff Keighley, and boy did he have a surprise in store for us.
Mortal Shell 2
Release Date: 2026
The show kicked off with a fantastic trailer for Mortal Shell 2, this souls-like sequel has leant into a heavy metal soulslike formula and it looks very fun. I really think it has found more of it’s own personality now which is a good thing.
Chronicles Medieval
Early Access in 2026
A big budget CGI trailer with a voiceover from Tom Hardy shows a medieval villager see his village burning down and then flashes forward to the future where it seems he is leading an army of crusader style medieval soldiers. It had a very cool moment where the camera pans out and the UI appears to show that we have transitioned to gameplay and another huge army has lined up in the distance. I mean we have to take it with a pinch of salt as we haven’t seen it in action properly but it has jaw dropping potential.
Sonic Racing Crossworlds
Release Date: 25th September 2025
I’m gonna whisper this quietly as I have just got a switch 2 and think Mario Kart World is brilliant so far but this could be a real Mario Kart contender. Sonic Racing Crossworlds looks fantastic, frantic and fun. Couple this with the addition of crossworlds characters which are from other gaming franchises and you have a real winning formula. So far they have revealed Hatsune Miku, Ichiban from Yakuza and Joker from Persona 5 (to much applause) all with their own custom karts.
Code Vein 2
Release Date: 2026
Similar to Mortal Shell 2 this anime styled Soulslike sequel has leaned further into it’s own personality and the results look both beautiful and brilliant.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
Release Date: 2026
Okay okay it’s happening! Please tell me the RTS renaissance is real.
I have seen a little bit of gameplay on this and it looks somewhere between AOE style RTS battles and the lord of the rings battle for middle earth games. Anyone who knows me they will know every year around E3 season I will climb to a mountaintop to scream at the god of war “ARES give me Battle for Middle earth 3 and you can have my soul”

If this is as close as we can get I will absolutely take it. Playside Studios please don’t let us down.
Atomic Heart 2
Release Date: 2026
Gone are the days where video game sequels feel like the filler episode to set us up for a trilogy. Sequels today are adding much wanted features and doubling down on what makes the original fun, it is great to see.
Atomic Heart 2 looks incredibly fun and enjoyable, sporting an open world, more rpg elements and vehicles. Heck it looks like it ahs been influenced by the Just Cause games too. I’m very optimistic for this. See the trailer below and I have also included a trailer for The Cube, a multiplayer PVP game set in the atomic universe.
Onimusha Way of the Sword
Release Date: 2026
A beautiful gameplay trailer, Onimusha Way of the sword looks amazing. The Capgods are absolutely cooking; don’t take my word for it watch the trailer and see for yourself;
Felt That Boxing
Release Date: TBD
A hilarious trailer for a very unique game where you play as a puppet in the style of the muppets. Taking a scrawny puppet through a Rocky Balboa esque character arc to win a boxing tournament and save the orphanage he came from. Packed with dark humour it looks incredibly unique, fun and funny.
Stranger Than Heaven
Release Date: TBD
Stranger Than Heaven Is Ryu Ga Gotoku’s official name for Project Century, it looks like a period timepiece Yakuza style game with a hint of a supernatural mystery beneath the surface.
ILL
Release Date: TBD
A truly terrifying gameplay trailer. Featuring all sorts of monstrosities and some sick (pardon the pun) limb decapitating gameplay
Arc Raiders
Release Date: October 30th
This was a real standout of the show for me.
Arc Raiders looks like a premium extraction shooter which could really set the standard for the genre. You enter a PVPVE landscape occupied by AI metal arc robots which come in all different shapes and sizes, as well as other raiders(real players) who you can team up with (or not) in real time. There’s a multitude of buildings to scour for supplies and attempt to escape with.
It looks tense, fun, and very addictive. Looks really good to play with friends
Dying Light: The Beast
Release Date: August 22nd 2025
I’m still soured from Dying Light 2 but this gameplay trailer does look good, it incorporates vehicles and guns now even if ammo is in scarce supply.
Lies of P: Overture
Release Date: Out Now!
They did it, the leaks were right, they shadow dropped it live! More amazing Lies of P gameplay to go at and it is available right now.
Resident Evil Requiem
Release Date: February 27th 2026
The big finale, a shock world premiere, the newest installment in the Resi franchise is here (well played Geoff Keighley on this surprise). Introducing a new playable character and a return to what looks like a dilapidated Raccoon City and it looks as horrifying as ever.
Can anyone compete with Capcom right now?
Xbox Showcase Highlights
Over to the Xbox Showcase Highlights and they kicked off with 2 big sequels;
Outer Worlds 2
Release Date: October 29th 2025
This looks very similar to the first one but in abundance. I’m sure if you loved the first game you will love this one too. Another October release, that month is now packed so you may want to plan ahead.
High on Life 2
Release Date: Winter 2025
Sporting some beautiful graphics the comedic fps is back with more wacky and sweary weapons to blast aliens with. Again if you’re a fan of the first this looks like more but better.
Resonance a Plague Tale Legacy
Release Date: 2026
A Roman time period piece in the Plague tale series, it looks interesting and they have picked really good setting. Looking forward to seeing more gameplay on this one.
Blood of the Dawnwalker
Release Date: 2026
I am very hyped for this. Created by Rebel Wolves who are led by the former Witcher 3 Director and the Co-Director for Cyberpunk 2077 Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. A Dark fantasy action RPG set in what looks like a medieval open world where you hunt and kill vampires. Where you play as what is effectively Blade? A daywalking vampire who hunts other vampires that are enslaving mankind? Sign me tf up.
Ninja Gaiden 4
Release Date: October 21st 2025
A new and very fun looking Ninja Gaiden game. Full of action, gore and sick ninja moves. (Another big October release)
Beast of Reincarnation
Release Date: 2026
A beautiful looking action RPG from Gamefreak? What?! When did they decide they could make great looking games? Where is this for the Pokemon franchise? So many questions
Clockwork Revolution
Release Date: 2026
The trailer shows off a Steampunk RPG which looks like it has a semi open world with bizarre characters. They then show a great bit of gun customisation which looks very cool. But then they show off time bending mechanics? Changing the past to change the future environments?
This is definitely one to watch
Mudang Two Hearts
Release Date: 2026
I genuinely thought this was a Splinter Cell game at first. The inspiration is definitely there and as you watch the trailer it looks more and more like a Korean supernatural Splinter Cell. I am quietly hyped for this one as it looks to involve a lot of tactical espionage action.
Invincible VS
Release Date: 2026
A fighting game set in the invincible universe with 3v3 tag combat battles. This is going to go head to head with Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls for the team based superhero fighting game belt.
Person 4 Revival
Release date: Hopefully 2026
It’s real! A Persona 4 Remake. I haven’t finished P4 and was planning on playing P4G on my vita this year. Persona 5 is one of my favourite JRPGs of all time. Persona 3 Reload was one of my favourite games of last year. So so very excited for this and just so glad that it is real.
Last but certainly not least..
The Xbox ROG Ally X – Release Date: Winter 2025
The new Xbox Console technically? An Asus ROG Ally x with the Xbox branding an OS on board. It does look tempting with 24GB of RAM and a 1TB harddrive. The ability to install or stream your entire library plush gameplass plus integrations with Steam and GOG. More info on this when it comes. Im hoping theirs an OLED version on the way.
Final Thoughts
All around it was a great weekend with plenty of announcements for this year. As well as plenty of reasons to get excited about 2026 (other than GTA VI)
The Highlights for me were (apart from literally everything Capcom announced) Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, War for Westeros, Arc Raiders and Blood of the Dawnwalker.
What are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!
