The console wars seem to be finally finished?!

After Forza we all sort of saw this coming, but it still feels surreal: Gears of War is officially coming to PlayStation. Gears Reloaded (a remaster of the original Gears of War) arrives August 26th 2025, running at 4K resolution and 120 FPS.

Gears Goes Cross-Platform

Ever since Xbox made the decision to send Forza cross-platform, it was no longer a question of if, but when we’d see other flagship franchises follow. Now, with this announcement, another titan of the Xbox library makes the jump. And yes, this begs the question: Who’s next?

The DualSense Effect

I’ll be honest, initially I thought it’s going to feel weird revving up a Lancer on a DualSense controller… but then I thought wait, we are going to literally rev up a Lancer with the Dualesense controller.

Firing weapons from the Gears Arsenal on a Dualsense is going to hit different for sure

With Sony’s haptic feedback, each iconic Gears weapon—from Torque Bows to Boomers—has the potential to offer a unique tactile experience. The idea of physically feeling the power of a Longshot or the grind of the chainsaw bayonet, The tension and twang of the Torque Bow? That’s something we never knew we needed.

Multiplayer is included…

Replaying the campaign remastered will be a blast, even though many of us already did so on Xbox One. But what truly excites me is that multiplayer is included.

I spent countless hours as a teenager on the Xbox 360 playing the original Gears multiplayer alongside Oblivion. And now, that magic is back. Popping heads with the Longshot, abusing the chainsaw (I regret nothing) and doing dubious actions with smoke grenades are all making. a a big return. It might be 2025 but;

2006 is so F***ing back

Bringing multiplayer to the PlayStation audience ensures full lobbies, fresh competition, and more chances to relive the glory days. We can run Warzone on Gridlock or Execution on Canals to our hearts’ content.

Who’s Next?

As much as I’m looking forward to reliving this classic, it opens the floodgates to even bigger questions:

  • Will Gears 2 and Gears 3 get the same treatment?
  • Will Gears E-Day come to PlayStation?
  • Does this pave the way for Halo or even Starfield to go cross-platform?

Feel free to let us know which classic Xbox game you would like to see move to Playstation next.

Time will tell. But for now, one thing’s for sure:

I’ll see you on Gridlock.
